Tagging Items

Preparing and tagging your items properly will maximize selling potential and ensure that your items will not get lost or separated during the sale.

  1. All items must be clean and in usable condition.
  2. Make sure that all required and/or original pieces are included. If not, then clearly indicate what is missing in the description of your tag.
  3. If the item requires batteries then it must have working batteries in it. Dollar Tree is the best place to purchase temporary batteries.
  4. Price in $0.50 increments ONLY!

Preparing Your Items

Taping
Use regular clear scotch tape to attach tags to your items. Do not tape over the barcode!

DO NOT use packing tape as it destroys everything underneath it when removed.

Packaging
Always remember when packaging your items that they will be handled numerous times throughout the sale. You'll want to package them in a way that they will stay together.

  • Book sets can be combined in a ziplock bag or held together with rubber bands (one or two wrapped vertically and horizontally). Do NOT wrap books in cling wrap or seal the top of the ziplock bags with tape. Most buyers will want to inspect the books before purchasing. If they can't, then it's not likely your item will sell.
  • Small pieces can be packaged together in ziplock bags and sealed with clear packing tape. If it would be difficult for a buyer to tell what's in the bag, or what it's used for, take a picture of the items and tape it to the bag.
  • If you have a large item that includes lots of little pieces, then package the small pieces together in a ziplock bag and tape the bag to the larger piece.
  • Wooden puzzles should be put together and then wrapped in clear plastic wrap.
  • Boxed games should include all pieces. If one or two incidental pieces are missing that really do not affect playing the game, then you may note this on the tag, or on a note attached to the box. Tape the box closed.
  • Dress up items, not in their original packaging, should be placed in a ziplock bag. Tape the top of the bag closed. Tape a picture on the front of all items included in the bag (optional, but helps it sell).
  • Sports balls MUST be placed in a ziplock bag to keep them from rolling around.

Pricing

We suggest that you price your items at 40%-60% of the original cost, depending on condition. Remember that shoppers are looking for the best prices and there could potentially be several other identical items available. Price your items to compete and sell!

Prices MUST be in fifty cent increments!
